Get a glimpse from the Front Row as the HauteTrader team attends New York fashion week!
CDFA x LifeWater presentation
Hooray! Today is the first day of fashion week. This is one of our favorite weeks of the year. Fashion week is the time that we see the fabulous collections from some of our favorite designers. If you live in New York city you also know that fashion week totally transforms the energy of the city. For our first show we were delighted to attend the CFDA x Lifewater NYFW Presentation While we love high-end and notable designers such as Tom Ford and Balenciaga, we revel in the discovery of emerging design talent. The CFDA show was the perfect opportunity to meet a few new designers and chit chat with notable guests such as Katie Holmes.
Tiffany Huang and Ghazaleh Khalifeh were our favorite new designers in the show. Huang and Khalifeh both showcased vibrant and fresh designs that easily remind us why we adore viewing and speculating on the creative possibilities of new fashion talent.
Tiffany Huang’s aesthetic embraced eccentric and vibrant colors with distinctive color blocking. Her designs easily transcended from wearable fashion to wearable art. The CFDA event was a fitting presentation for Huang due to the featured live sketch artistry from the #FashionIsArt team. In fact, our very own founder Hope-Noelle received a sketching of her gorgeous outfit!
Be sure to visit the CatWalk blog every day, and take a front row seat with the HauteTrader team at New York fashion week!
Alexander wang is famous for his eccentric street style designs, top models in his shows and a celebrity guest list you would kill for. Of course, the Kardashians were in attendance! I spy Kris eyeing a yummy looking shake shack burger, don’t do it, Kris! WANG is notorious for having an off location show that is not only fashion but an experience. This year it the show was set up between warehouses in Brooklyn. Models busted out with a strong stride ready to shock the crowd while everyone tried to get in the position to see. The crowd was bursting with HypeBeast fans from #WANGFEST from Instagram and snap chat. A great use of social media and it’s no surprise Wang took full advantage. This energy moved from the street show to the after party where artists like Cardi B not only wore Wang’s designs to the show but performed.
John Paul Ataker
The show was angelic and dreamy. With beautiful cream and gold designs. Looks fit for a queen, with silhouettes and flowing fabric that capture the essence of the feminine form. By far one of our favorite shows this season
The Libertine fashion week show was filled with a pirate chic aesthetic and psychedelic, nostalgic designs. The runway looks teamed graphic illuminations with sublime screen printing techniques that are especially typical for Libertine. We enjoyed the look of jackets with bright embellishments reflecting vintage patchwork. There were male and female models but the looks had a unisex vibe. We loved the bright colors and light feel of the clothing, almost like Lisa Frank met Mad Max.
Libertine ended the show with a celebration! The pirate ship ended with a celebration only Madonna could anchor. The excitement of the show was palpable and the collection was jovial.
Zadig & Zoltaire x Purple Magazine cocktail party
Honestly, who can turn down a handsome man passing out champagne while you are surrounded by beautiful people and beautiful fashion? This was our choice at the Zadig and Voltaire x Purple magazine post-show cocktail party. We mingled with notable party guests Ashlee Simpson, Evan Ross, and head of Purple magazine
The Colovos SS18 line is an interesting twist on staple items in your wardrobe. They featured alot of khaki and alternative ways to wear a trench coat. The designs were clean with crafted beautifully. My favorite part about the show was the versatile way you can switch up seemingly simple items. Creating a piece that transcends one use or look is essential for my closet. in minimalist fashion the only colors used were red, navy blue, white, khaki and black, making the pieces easy to mix.
The HauteTrader Team had a jam packed Day 3 of fashion week so we decided to have a day off… what do trend setting women do on a day off? We pamper ourselves of course. A delightful spa day ending happy hour was just what we needed to get right for the rest of the week. Now on to day 5!
As we approached the West Village destination for the Cynthia Rowley SS2018 fashion week presentation, we were awe struck by what appeared before us. To easily experience it, simply close your eyes and imagine mesmerizing angels floating through the air. Now open. And see the magic of Cynthia Rowley.
Like an art installation, the models stood tall on anchored swings. Guests mingled as they walking around the space to glimpse at the models from all angles. Prosecco flowed and the angelic energy was palpable. Many of the models caught our attention for photos; making the surreal living art experience infectious. The concept of models on swings, might be construed as being childlike but the scene and the collection were anything but; the collection was actually very sexy and mature. The color palette was comprised of neutral earth tones and constructed with scrumptious silks. With so much to differentiate from Cynthia Rowley’s previous collections, she succeeding in remaining true to her laid back beach style; whilst elevating her aesthetic to a realm best described as uber feminine with subtle elegance and playfulness.
Bravo to Cynthia Rowley. We absolutely adored the creativity of her presentation. With the hustle and bustle of fashion week, we appreciate being transported by her angelic vision. The devil might wear Prada, but Angels wear Cynthia Rowley!
The last day of Fashion Week came way too quickly. The glamour of fashion week is something we look forward to for months. To wrap up the week we attended the Zang Toi show, Marchesa and Marc Jacobs.
The ZANG TOI shows highlighted empress colors like rich emerald green, red, black and white. We love a strong will fitted suit on a woman but also a more casual approach. With his knit fabrics and embellishments, you could easily dress it up or down. His big statement of the show was an embellished floor length overcoat with a dangerously short emerald green mini dress.
